In her book, all about love: new visions, bell hooks wrote “to truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients - care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication” (p. 5). This was the inspiration for Love at the Roots and this is how I aim to approach the work of healing-centered embodied social justice work; through deep love and compassion in action.

In our work together:

Expect to be Uncomfortable: Conversations about racism and other forms of oppression are not comfortable. Neither is exploring organizational dysfunction and the ways trauma permeates society. In any work with Rhiannon, you will experience discomfort.

Expect to Reflect: The pace of workshops and professional development is intentionally paced to allow room for processing. There will be times for you to engage in self-reflection and to contemplate the information shared.

Expect Choice: There will be opportunities for small group discussions. There are many reasons why we may feel ready to engage in discussion with others. Whether or not you want to engage in these will be up to you. If it is a pattern for you to avoid engaging with others, you may want to a) challenge yourself to move outside of your comfort zone or b) share with others or Rhiannon accommodations that may make it more accessible for you to share.
